Clowns-Halloween Inspired
While visiting my hometown in Minnesota, I met up with one of my besties Nyki of Hair Junk-e to create. Halloween is right around the corner. We wanted to do something to incorporate some fun Halloween Inspired makeup artistry.
Meet our clowns.
The concept was to have one happy colorful clown and one mono-dramatic clown. I did some quick thrift shopping at Savers. I found some shoes, pants, corsets, suspenders, and a hair bow. We found the colorful tutu and corset at Party City. I really wanted to add balloons to give it a circus tone. I loved our giant yellow one! I actually popped during the shoot on accident and we loved using it to make our clown sad. The shoot was actually supposed to take place during sunset but hair and makeup took a bit longer than planned. Let’s be real…. we like to talk too! 😉 Since I was traveling without my lighting gear, it was time to improvise. I used the alley lights behind Nyki’s home, a set of car headlights, and a set of truck headlights. We did get a few concerned neighbors coming out asking whey there were creepy clowns hanging out in the alley. I don’t blame them… Kinda freaky. After explaining it was a photoshoot they were all good with it and some even stuck around to watch. I loved how it came out. Inside I used nothing but cell phone flashlights and string lights. Some of the best shots come from happy accidents!
Time to change things up… Lets do a vintage set. Nyki’s porch was the perfect spot and light!Nyki just happened to have a creepy little storage closet. We were channeling the movie The Ring. We used blacklight/uv makeup on the happy clown! How fun is this!? Makeup by Kryolan.
