The first set is a beautiful floral hoop with greens and beautiful cream flowers. I have a gorgeous green gown that my moms are welcome to wear! The date is set for Sunday April 28th. I am only opening it to 6 sessions!

Session fee is $299 and includes one mom and one child and 5 artistically edited digital images.

If you wish to add additional children or a grandmother, there is a $50 fee per additional person.

Floral Boudoir

Floral Boudoir

One of the many perks I have with renting along side an amazing event florist, The Olive and Poppy, is that I get to photograph some really gorgeous sets! Shannon (Owner) made these beautiful arrangements for another event and when she brought them back, I had to get them in front of my camera for some floral boudoir. Nadalyn Jade was coming into the studio this morning. Recently relocated from Utah, I was so lucky she chose me as her first Colorado photographer. Because I have a huge passion for shopping, I had the perfect boudoir outfits to compliment the pretty floral arrangements. We started in  a pink VS lace bra and panty set. I also grabbed my favorite vintage vs bodysuit. Ladies, this thing looks amazing on everyone!!! Floral embroidery is so feminine and I am obsessed with the detail!

I decided to keep on the path of floral boudoir and grabbed a bouquet of fresh pink roses. Valentines day was right around the corner which made these the perfect prop. Little did I know that Nadalyn had a half sleeve of roses! Everything came together so perfectly. She brought the prettiest little red VS number complete with a bow that accentuated her booty perfectly. I love red on this girl! She totally rocked the vixen vibe.  Because a shoot wouldn’t be complete without a fantasy set, we shot her last look in a pair of my luxurious black wings!

Miss L’s session was one for the books. My hmua Mary Willis did such an incredible job with her hair and makeup. She reminds me a bit of Taylor swift in the old days with those long, glamorous curls. For this session, we chose 5-6 different looks. Having a gallery full of variety is what I strive for. The boudoir session started with some cozy and light and airy looks. Wings at the studio are always favorite so we had to do a few looks with those too. At the studio, I now have just under 10 different style wings for you to choose from. Ms. L chose to shoot in the white and grey wings because they were perfect matches for her Victoria Secret outfits.

Working with Ms. L was so much fun because she had the most infectious smile, heart of gold, and was totally up for whatever I suggested.  If I had to pick a favorite set, I would be torn between the black lace bodysuit and her bohemian cozy boudoir style. If you are looking for your own boudoir session, be sure to get in touch with me here because I do tend to book 2-3 months out!

Fall Outdoor Boudoir

Fall Outdoor Boudoir

Fall outdoor boudoir is by far one of my favorite types of sessions. Crisp air and the smell of freshly fallen leaves gives me all the feels.

This boudoir session was at my brothers farm in Bradford, MN. Sammie braved cold to get these gorgeous images. The weather changed drastically before out shoot. It was warm the prior week. Two days before this it snowed and thank goodness it melted before our session. Sammie brought some amazing pieces to shoot in. Since the weather was chilly that day, I brought along a few fall themed blankets to keep her warm and double as a cute prop. All the images with these blankets make me feel so cozy! I really wanted to shoot with a bonfire which would also give her something to warm up to but we ran out of time.

If your wanting a fall outdoor boudoir session, I highly recommend late Sept to mid October. Usually the temps are still pretty warm around that time. However, if weather doesn’t cooperate, I also own a studio we can move the session too! Win win!

She is the cutest isn’t she? She did so good braving the cold elements.  To see more of my boudoir work click here. I adore shooting all styles of boudoir, so if a fall outdoor boudoir session isn’t quite your thing, that is okay. I have a photography studio located in Denver. Another option is rent a fabulous air bnb. Whatever your style, I would love to chat more with you. Click here to get in touch.

Sky Overlay Application

How to Apply a Sky Overlay in Photoshop

First click here to get your free sky overlay or right click to open in a new tab.

I get asked all the time about how and when to apply sky overlays. It can be a bit confusing if you are new to photoshop or using an overlay for the first time. Let me walk you through the all the reasons why you should use a sky overlay, how you should use them, and how to apply them.

Watch my video tutorial or keep scrolling to read my blog post.

Reasons to use Sky Overlays

  1. Blown out sky. Do you have a beautiful image but the sky was completely blown out (all white)? You can fill it back in using the sky of your choice!
  2. Create a mood. Maybe you have a dark image and want a dramatic cloudy sky to match your mood.
  3. Don’t like your current sky. If your sunset was lack-luster while you were shooting, no problem. Replace it with a better one to complete your vision.

Now that you know what they are good for here are some other things to keep in mind before applying a sky overlay.

Things to Keep in Mind

  1. Time of day. If your image was taken at sunset be sure your sky relates to that time of day by applying another sunset. If you photo was taken at high noon in full sun, your going to have harsh light and shadows. You will want to use an overlay with blue sky. If you try to put a sunset sky with an image taken in harsh light, its not going to be believable.  Same with a cloudy day. If your photo was taken during an overcast sky, use a cloudy overlay.
  2. Direction of light. If your sunlight is coming from the left side of the photo, be sure that the overlay has the same direction of light. You can also easily flip the image in photoshop by going to image>image rotation.  If the sky overlay direction of light doesn’t match, once again its not believable.
  3. Background Blur. If the background on your image is out of focus, you need a sky that is out of focus to match as well. You can adjust this by applying a gaussian blur to the overlay. Just go to filter>blur>gaussian blur.

Now that you know what to look for to apply the best overlay, lets learn how!

How to Apply Overlay

  1. Open image you wish to add an overlay to.
  2. Open your sky overlay.
  3. Click and drag your sky onto your image.
  4. Use the transform tool to adjust the sky to your liking.
  5. Apply a layer mask to the overlay.
  6. Grab a soft black brush on a low opacity and begin blending the sky with the horizon line of your image.
  7. When you are done, merge and save.

Denver Christmas Mini Sessions 2018

Denver Christmas Mini Sessions 2018

If you have been searching for Denver Christmas Mini Sessions 2018, you have come to the right place!

This year I am offering two adorable set ups to give you some options!

The first set is a Country Winter Wonderland.

Very ethereal with an almost all white set is perfect for that “Magnolia” style. Snowflakes and twinkling lights hang from above the white bedspread. There are gorgeous sparkling eucalyptus wreaths hanging in the back and cute little fur wrapped gifts.  This set is a tad “girlier” but is gender neutral as well. I would suggest wearing creams, whites, tans, light blues, light greens, and pastel pinks with this set. Try to avoid dark and bold colors and prints. Christmas pjs would also be adorable in this set.

This set reminds me of a cute little country cabin. I love the rustic texture paired with the soft velvet green couch. Edison lights are swung from each side and wrapped in greenery. There are accents of reds and whites. I love the cute red truck which makes for a great prop! This set I recommend wearing reds, black, brown, mustard yellow, and deep jewel tones. Try to avoid pastels and all light outfits.
