Best places for a maternity shoot in Colorado? My top favorite epic location is Summit County because it has such diverse options for backgrounds. You want water? It’s got a reservoir and rivers. You want epic mountain scenes? They are plentiful. You want both? Done! Summit county is beautiful  no matter what season you are shooting! Winter time can be so magical with the falling flakes.  The summertime the fields have blossoming wild flowers. It’s about a 2 hourish drive from Denver metro making it doable as a day trip or turn your session into an overnight date with your special one.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

Rocky Mountain National Park comes in as a close second for me. You do need to purchase a permit for this location but it is worth it! This location also features epic mountain vistas as well as more wooded, prairie, and lake views. Trail Ridge Road makes you feel as if you were on top of the world however, it does close when the weather turns cold so if this is a location you are loving, I would suggest a summer/early fall shoot.

You often see wildlife while visiting such as elk, moose, and the cute little marmots on the tundra. The wind can be a bit insane up high but if you have a flowy gown, it’s gonna give as all the dreamy vibes! Again, this is about a 2ish hour commute from Denver and sometimes driving to locations in the park add another half hour. So plan for a day trip or make this an overnight stay! The historic Stanley hotel is located nearby in Estes or stay at one of their gorgeous hotels in the area.

PAINT MINES

Want something truly different for your maternity shoot? The Paint Mines located in Calhan, CO is like a whole new world. Paint Mines are located about 45 minutes east of Colorado Springs or about 2 hours from the Denver metro. This park does require a permit but again is so worth it! Sandstone capped Spires tower above you and the colorful tones along the rock gives paint mines it’s descriptive name. It is a bit of a walk to get to some of the more epic locations from the main parking lot but you have beautiful views and often wildlife along the way. The greenery growing really pops among the sand and rock. Definitely a site to see whether you choose to do your  maternity photos here or just come for a day trip.

DON’T WANNA DRIVE TOO FAR? I GOT YOU!

My studio location sits on 5 beautiful acres in Castle Rock, CO and only about a 30 minute commute from the Denver Tech Center and about the same distance from the Springs. The property has an amazing view of Castle Rock and the western front range making for epic sunsets and views. Often, you will see some of our wild life such as turkeys, deer, hawks, and occasionally fox! We have lots of different locations around the property with different types of settings. We have pines, open fields, a stream (sometimes it drys out), rock formations, oak trees, and tons of gorgeous little wildflowers in the spring and summer.

The best part about booking a shoot with me here, we have an indoor option! So whether your wanting studio and outdoor maternity or just need a backup option when the weather is inclement, you are covered!

I also have a massive wardrobe collection of over 250 gowns/outfit choices for the expecting mom which saves you the hassle of shopping, searching, and buying something you may only wear once! I can also help you style your family to match!

We have onsite hair and makeup as well so all you have to do is show up and we take care of you-giving you time to relax before your session. My turnaround times is very quick so expect to see your images in a minimum of 2 weeks after your shoot.
